Plant History
1940 to 1953
The refinery was a small version of plants
are now installed in refineries throughout the world. This was able to handle 1600 barrels
of oil per day. In 1947 crude oil production was 23,500 gals/day.
The finished petrol was stored and then
pumped to Newnes Junction Water. A pipeline was opened to Glen Davis in 1943. From Fish
River at Oberon, some 60 miles from Glen Davis. The domestic reservoir still exists at
Glen Davis. (Try the tap pressure at the stand-pipe in the park!)
